![]() Take Me North is a musical journey into the heart, soul and humor of living North. Through a variety of musical mediums ranging from solo voice to the layering of acoustic and digital instrumentation, Wynn-Anne succeeds in creating powerful imagery sprinkled with a whimsical personality.
The music is divided into four distinct groups, each voicing a different aspect of the North: TAKE ME NORTH: This suite, originally commissioned by MTNA and MMTA for a music teachers convention, is based on the diverse Minnesota state symbols. Brief narrative has been designed to go before each piece, awakening the imagination of the listener. The music combines digital recording by the composer with live musicians. Selections include: CREATURE VOICES: Composed for a cappella voice and performed by the acclaimed group Dare to Breathe, this six-piece suite communicates experience for the creature's point of view. Selections include: NATURE PASSION POEMS: Nationally known soprano Maria Jette, accompanied by the composer, brings to life this playful, yet soulful song cycle. Selections include: STATE FAIR SUITE: Commissioned by Minnesota Public Radio, this five-piece suite takes you into the heart of state fair experience. Brief narrative is also designed to link these pieces. Stephanie Wendt Johnson, former MPR host/producer and Wynn-Anne are at the piano. Soprano Maria Jette and tenor John David Moore join them for the finale. Selections include:
